Before I answer your question I have a few of my own that confuses me?
What do whites go vacation in sunny places when they know that the sun can kill them?
Why would God create the sun that gives life to our planet and then create a race of people that can’t be in the sun? (I had a real good friend die recently from skin cancer. His doctors said it was an over exposure to the sun. Our genes are weaker than any other races? Our we mutations or were we driven out of the Garden of Eden and our skin marked so that where ever we go people would know that we are the children of Cain?)
Was our founding fathers considered terrorists by England? Do Native Americans consider us terrorist?
If Bush should get credit for keeping our country safe for seven years, should Clinton get more credit for keeping our country safe for eight years?
If Rush ran for president, I would vote for him. Why won’t he run? He is so smart. He is much smarter than Bush, and Bush was a great president. Our country has never been so safe.
Those are just some of the random questions that popped into my head after reading your post. I am only 16 years old and trying to figure all of this out.
Now, the answer to your question.
My guess would be that the 2 millions blacks that made it in and out of DC must of had a lot of money. You guys should know that when you have money you can do things that people without money can’t do. Many of them stayed in hotel rooms that exceeded $250/night. Some stayed in expensive resorts outside of DC, and went skiing and snowboarding. I think some even rented buses to handled their transportation. Don’t forget, a lot of them live there. If I remember it correctly, the people that didn’t leave New Orleans were poor. Maybe they didn’t have the money to leave or any place to go.
I guess it would be like once when one of my friends ask me why so kids walk to school after they turn 16 when they can just drive their car? At our high school most kids get a car on their birthday. I got a sweet red Porsche Boxster. :-) Anyway, the kids that walk to school live in the trailer parks near our school. I guess those kids’ parents can’t buy them cars.

- That’s false. In fact, someone called around to some of the hotels in the area and there wasn’t a shortage of rooms & the prices DIDN’T skyrocket.

– Ray Nagin had access to SEVERAL school buses that could have been loaded up with passengers and hauled to safety. Those who stayed in New Orleans didn’t take the warnings seriously, refused to leave, and WE the TAXPAYERS had to make up for it. I don’t care HOW poor you are – if you get word that a SEVERE HURRICANE is headed your way & everyone must evacuate, you better get the hell out of there. Shelters were set up all over the country to help the victims. Some people even opened their homes to them.
