You are 100% correct about Townsend’s comment. She made a statement that is way off base. The Catholic church is very much pro-life, despite the fact that some of the hierarchy are too gutless to take a stand against abortion, for fear of creating “waves”. Before anybody makes a post to the contrary, let me say this, I know because I am a Catholic. American Catholics do not belong to Obama anymore than anyone else does. If Pope Benedict does not inform Obama that what he is doing is wrong, then it will be a crying shame.

Whoa! there stophate, you just used an arguement that alot of conservatives do. I really hate to say this, but I agree with you that this country is more of a Constitutional Republic than a Democracy. A Constitutional Republic protects individual rights and prevents one group of people from having total control. Having said that though, it’s purpose is also to keep the government from controlling every aspect of your life, like what Obama is hoping to accomplish with his socialist agenda. But, whether you like it or not this country was founded on christian principles. Stop and think of how many Einsteins, etc.. that have been killed because they were an inconvenience. I believe that legalized murder is not an individuals right. This country became the greatest nation on the face of the earth, because God was a fundemental part of it. Sadly, that does not seem to be the case anymore. Just remember, that you cannot use the Constitutional Republic arguement only when it’s convenient for you. The federal government is not ment to have the power that they have now. Just remember, your precious Obama is also in favor of euthenasia, everyone gets old stophate. At least your mother didn’t exercise her “right to choose” fortunately for you. Pro-abortion people are in favor of it because they are already born.

I read with great interest the outcome of many polls just the past couple days, and I saw that very, very few Americans will call themselves liberal, and are more comfortable considering themselves conservative. The Oborter’s numbers are tumbling down and this wave of Marxism is definately leaving a bitter taste in America’s mouth.

Thank you for the reference, Fishleg. Don’t laugh, but in my quest for a church to go to, I tried out the local Catholic one, and knew fairly quickly I was in the wrong place. I was quite alarmed by all the statues and the crucifixes made me feel quite pained. You see, in the Presbyterian church, we don’t have statues or crucifixes: it’s the resurrection that matters, not the crucifixion. Then, there seemed to be such a lot of repetition and mumbo-jumbo and I wondered where they got all that stuff from. T’Ain’t in my Bible!
When the collection box came round, most people were inserting envelopes that weren’t landing with a thud that might indicate coins!! You can buy candles and other bits and pieces that apparently help your prayer to find God’s ear.
If I felt moved by the Holy Spirit, it was to get out of there!
Having said that, I am descended from an Italian family that claims 3 Popes (no, I’m not a Di Medici!) and I wonder what power they wielded to get into that position – money, I expect. Half my family are Roman Catholics, but fortunately (in my opinion) my father turned his back on it.
Obama is seeking the backing there of a man, the Pope, who sits in the Vatican, which has investments in armaments and also in pharmaceutical companies that make contraception. Didn’t the Pope speak out this week about the need for a new world order?

No, I’m not Catholic, although people who hear my name assume that I am. One of my brothers, who had been made redundant, and was desperate for another job, was employed on the basis that his prospective employer assumed he was Catholic. My brother decided not to enlighten the man!
As you say, no point in ruffling feathers. Some of my family have chosen the Catholic Church, and they are all good people whom I would not dream of criticising for their choice, nor of insulting their faith.
