President Obama didn’t wait long after Tuesday’s devastating elections to give critics another reason to question his leadership, but this time the subject matter was more grim than a pair of governorships.
After news broke out of the shooting at the Fort Hood Army post in Texas, the nation watched in horror as the toll of dead and injured climbed. The White House was notified immediately and by late afternoon, word went out that the president would speak about the incident prior to a previously scheduled appearance. At about 5 p.m., cable stations went to the president. The situation called for not only his trademark eloquence, but also grace and perspective.
But instead of a somber chief executive offering reassuring words and expressions of sympathy and compassion, viewers saw a wildly disconnected and inappropriately light president making introductory remarks. At the event, a Tribal Nations Conference hosted by the Department of Interior’s Bureau of Indian affairs, the president thanked various staffers and offered a “shout-out” to “Dr. Joe Medicine Crow — that Congressional Medal of Honor winner.” Three minutes in, the president spoke about the shooting, in measured and appropriate terms. Who is advising him?
Anyone at home aware of the major news story of the previous hours had to have been stunned. An incident like this requires a scrapping of the early light banter. The president should apologize for the tone of his remarks, explain what has happened, express sympathy for those slain and appeal for calm and patience until all the facts are in. That’s the least that should occur.
Indeed, an argument could be made that Obama should have canceled the Indian event, out of respect for people having been murdered at an Army post a few hours before. That would have prevented any sort of jarring emotional switch at the event.
Did the president’s team not realize what sort of image they were presenting to the country at this moment? The disconnect between what Americans at home knew had been going on — and the initial words coming out of their president’s mouth was jolting, if not disturbing.
It must have been disappointing for many politically aware Democrats, still reeling from the election two days before. The New Jersey gubernatorial vote had already demonstrated that the president and his political team couldn’t produce a winning outcome in a state very friendly to Democrats (and where the president won by 15 points one year ago). And now this? Congressional Democrats must wonder if a White House that has burdened them with a too-heavy policy agenda over the last year has a strong enough political operation to help push that agenda through.
If the president’s communications apparatus can’t inform — and protect — their boss during tense moments when the country needs to see a focused commander-in-chief and a compassionate head of state, it has disastrous consequences for that president’s party and supporters.
All the president’s men (and women) fell down on the job Thursday. And Democrats across the country have real reason to panic.

I received this in an email today from Dr Alan Clifford, Pastor of Norwich Reformed Church, Norwich. Dr Clifford has been an outspoken critic of Islam for quite a few years.

Are we surprised at the Fort Hood horror? Hasn’t the election of President Barak Hussein Obama stimulated Islamic belligerance? Of course it has! What has to happen before active steps are taken to reverse the Islamic invasion of the Western world?
The simple fact is that Islam and democracy are incompatible. For this reason, the West’s Afghanistan policy will never succeed while Islam remains the dominant influence (in either ‘militant’ or ‘moderate’ forms) in that benighted country. Whether or not military success occurs against the Taliban, it is all too obvious that there is sufficient Islamic presence in the UK, Europe and North America to ensure more ‘Hood horror’ for decades to come.
Another sobering observation must not be ignored. Even while we justly identify and oppose Islam as a dark, evil and oppressive ideology, its spreading influence in the West must be seen as God’s judgement on Western wickedness. While secularism inspires increasing anti-Christianity along with its liberal advocacy of sexual deviance, abortion, promiscuity, hedonism, materialism and other moral evils, no hope exists unless we repent. So, from an authentic Christian perspective, I conclude that unless we return to the source of all that is best in our Western heritage, there is simply no hope. So, I urge a return to the vibrant and virtuous ethos of Jesus Christ, the only Saviour of the world.

To better understand and “appreciate” the ugliness of islam, the falsity of islam one does need to look a little into its history. Rather interesting, but really exposes islam for the cult it really is…
The early Christians who fought against muslims had much more reason then a few tiny theological differences.
After the Byzantine empire began, they did start becoming rather decadent and exploited.
A few hundred years before, a man named Basilaedes from North Africa wrote a Christian gnostic “heretical” work. It dealed with Jesus Christ liberating man kind from a blind and insane angel known as “Abraxas”. If memory is correct, this brand of heresy was very popular among the Marcion gnostics.
It is very well known many fragments of the New Testament along with apocryphal and pseudepigrapha and gnostic heretical works were scattered all across the arabian penensula.
Almost every Bedouin shepherd clan had a few documents.
Example… one clan might have the legit book Mark, Acts but also a heretical book such as work of Thomas
Another might have Luke, a few of Paul’s letters, but also Epistle of the Loadiceans
One such clan of Bedouin shepherds had some works including one by the earlier Basilades mentioned with a few minor changes, such as the angel “Abraxas” removed. But all else stayed in tact with that heretical text.

This doesn’t mean they were the ONLY Christians. Keep in mind there were Nestorians, Coptics etc…
The Nestorian Christians were always hungry to seize power in the Byzantine thrown.
It was a Nestorian Christan monk named Bahira who seen opportunity when he met a boy named mohammud when he was either 9 or 12 years old. Bahira influenced mohammud as his teacher only on the early heretical work his clan had of Basilades that was slightly modified, thus giving somewhat illusion of being Christian in origin but vastly different then the Orthodoxy in the East governing the territories of the arabian peninsula.
This would give Bahira the “edge” at least in his mind to have an opportunity to take the reigns of power into his hands, or at least a successor in which he could control, much like the Byzantine bishops did with the emperor.
This didn’t work out to plan with Bahira like he thought though. As he found mohammud indulging in extravagances rapidly like the Byzantine Emperors if not worse at times. Such as practicing of pedophilia in which mohamud promotes the molestation of 9 year old girls as noted in the quran sura 4:127
Not to mention early Christianity was based off logic and reasoning, while islam was and still is based solely in subjective emotions with no reasoning, no logic, and no education.
While there were many islamic scholars in history, it is worthy to note many of the scholars were more “arabian decent” while turning atheist just to avoid islam after becoming educated, then after death being bestowed an honorary islamic title to keep the illusion that it is a great pseudo/religion alive in the worlds minds. Such as Omar Khayyam who once after an education became a silent but devout atheist with great sympathy to the Christians, not converting to Christianity only out of fear living among muslims.
let it be known, islam is nothing more then a cult for the unintelligent and emotive driven who are at best, extreme radicals when they want their way.
Which explains a lot why liberals are so sympathetic to muslims, while holding so much contemptuous hatred for Christianity today.
I do urge everyone to take time to read this, at least learn about the history of an evil enemy were are engaging battle with.
I also ask for any proof reading from Fishleg, as I know he is much better versed in this era of history then I am. But this is what I recall from my studies from along time ago which has helped me understand the enemy alittle better.

Your histories seem pretty concrete to me, Kristy…in college I studied SOME other religions, but were repulsed by them. SEMINARY does not teach anyone a damn thing other than how to fish money out of parishioner’s pockets..

The only reason I do give this the study, is not for any enticement of islam, but because it is a rampant cult which has and is currently trying to take over the world.
We seen this in buddhism/hinduism with the new age cults here and there, the atheists crap such as scientology and such, but not nearly at such a magnitude as islam is especially as of today.
It is a cult that needs much force to be stopped. It will in the end because Jesus will be known to the world, this I don’t deny. However, their own history does make for a good weapon against them in the fight until the coming of Christ the King takes His proper places in the eyes of the people once more.
Christ’s Holy Seat is here and always been here, its just not acknowledged by everyone as of yet until His coming.

How could that CNN reporter stand there and describe that place as , “peaceful.”? I guess they have to make sure the average ogling viewer doesn’t get the idea that Islam is a nasty business. It was just another crazy extremist, who misinterpreted the Qur’An, which is really full of love and peace according to that Imam, who has got to be deliberately lying, because I never found any love and peace in the Qur’An. Islam, however, teaches that it’s OK to lie to non-believers, and as in Obama’s case, even to lie about being Muslim.

God has approved of it since 1611 and King James was a direct descendant of David.
All the best scholarly study aids only work with the KJV for english speaking people to get back to the original manuscripts.
There is no other English translation that I can stand behind.

Fishleg, this year being the quincentenary of John Calvin’s birth, I was thinking about obtaining a copy of the Geneva Bible. Is this very different from the King James? Or is that a silly question?

The Geneva Bible is a good work in my estimation…some of its problems deal with chronologies and tenses, but I love mine, and I think it is a wonderful addition to any library!
Mr. Calvin was uhh…well, I will just keep my opinion to myself on him personally.
I also think the Bishop’s Bible was pretty good.
For studying in the English language, I can only stand by the King James.
