Paul enjoys the unique position of being hated by both the Obamapost type liberal Dems, and also the neo-con Republicans. Right wing talk radio and foxnews types like dick Morris hate Paul because he speaks the truth about our foreign policy, but even more because he completely exposes how full of it the GOP has been when it claims to be against spending more money and keeping government small. Paul has opposed them and pointed out their hypocrisy all along for decades, so they have tried to make him pay the price.
Dems like the readers of the Washington Post or the Huffington Post aka the Obamapost, hate Paul because he has exposed how full of it they have been on issues like civil liberties, war, the drug war, etc. While Bush was in power, the Dems and liberal MSNBC types were outraged over the big deficits, Patriot Act type laws, and war waged by Bush. Then when Obama came to power, all of that opposition stopped by 95% of the same Dems who went ballistic when Bush did the same things. Not a word was said about the NDAA, Obama assassinating a 16 year old US citizen on his own without due process, Obama pushing through a renewal of the patriot act, his stepping up the raids on medical marijuana users, his using the WWI era Espionage Act to prosecute and intimidate reporters more than all other Presidents combined, Guantanomo Bay, his hiding behind Executive Privilege on things like Fast & Furious, etc.
In both examples, Paul showed the millions of young people all over the world what huge frauds both the Dems and the GOP really are, and how their respective talking heads on foxnews and MSNBC are just as bad. Both sides will literally criticize the other for what they cheerlead once “their team” is in power. As Glenn Greenwald has said, Paul makes liberals uncomfortable because he is the one saying the stuff that progressives used to claim to be about, while they actively support people like Obama and Hillary who take the same views as the neo-cons the liberals claimed to be against. The inverse is true for why the neo-cons and GOP hate Ron Paul.
Thank you, Ron Paul. Of all the things that you have done, waking up millions of American youth to how full of it both parties and all of the DC media types are, whether they are liberal or conservative, may have been your most valuable contribution. The venom and anger I have already read here spewed by liberals and neo-cons is all that proof needed that you have dealt them both a blow that will eventually be fatal.
